On Wednesday May 23 the staff of Sir John A. Macdonald will hold a benefit concert to raise money for our school Angel Fund. The Angel Fund provides grant opportunities for students who face significant social, economic, and personal adversity. For many students, this fund is their only course to overcome otherwise insurmountable obstacles. It offers hope, and perhaps more importantly, provides a concrete means for students to build a future filled with happiness and success.
This year, several students in need will benefit from your generosity. In many ways, they personify the spirit of our school, literally transforming the culture of our student body. Through their example, kindness, and passion for creating community, Angel Fund recipients share their vision of what is possible with many for whom hope is crippled by despair. They draw out the quietest student in the corner and invite him or her to join the group; they challenge the loudest student in the classroom to consider views other than his or her own; and they empower the disenfranchised to stand up and speak out in self-advocacy. Angel Fund beneficiaries consistently put the needs of others first, and the time has come to put them first.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the needs of Sir John A. Macdonald students, and for your future consideration of all our Angel Fund recipients. We want you to know that when you support an SJAM Angel, you support an entire community.
