You may know it as “Parent Council”, “Parent-Teacher Association” (PTA) or as it is known in the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board, as School Council. Each year the school relies on input from the school community, including parents and guardians of children attending Gordon Price. A great way to give input is to be on school council. It is a commitment of 5 meetings per school year. Soon you will receive a “nomination ballet” from the school, in order to ‘elect” yourself, if you are a parent or guardian, to school council. We are looking for people who are interested in being in an advisory position to the school. Over the past school year the school council initiated, were involved in and/or maintained a number of activities such as: family movie night, Gordon Price “Spirit Wear”, members of the school nutrition committee, as well as having input on a number of great events that happened at Gordon Price. We were NOT responsible for fundraising. Some of the benefits of being on school council, is that, through the roughly 5 meetings per year, we have the opportunity to connect with other parents/guardians, with teachers, Umbrella Daycare, and with the Principal and Vice Principal of the school. The meetings are also a great way to find out what activities are going on at the school, as we have all had the Newsletter/calendar go missing, with valuable information in it. Please consider coming out for school council this year and learn a little bit more about the school.
