Welcome to Cathy Wever Elementary School Home of the Wever Wildcats!

Cathy Wever School is proud to be a Living School as designated by the Ontario Physical and Health Education Association. Through our state of the art fitness facility, our amazing gymnasium and our daily healthy snack program, students who attend Cathy Wever School are part of a healthy, active learning environment. Research tells us that students who excercise regularly and eat nutritiously perform better academically.

At Cathy Wever School we embrace the whole child and their family. We know that students achieve more when they feel connected to their school and their school community. Free after-school recreational and academic programs are available at Cathy Wever to support our students and their families in promoting a love of learning and a commitment to the community in which they live. Strong community partnerships are established to service the needs of our families through the Umbrella Family Daycare Centre right within our school, the Pinky Lewis Recreation centre next door, the Public Health Department, the Rotary Club of Hamilton and the YWCA to name a few.

Many volunteer opportunities are available at the school for parents to become involved in the school community. Volunteers prepare our students’ healthy nutritious snack each morning between 8:30-10:00 a.m. Our parent volunteers also offer a daily milk program for students wishing to buy milk for their lunch each day. All-Star Reading volunteers support our students in their literacy skills through regular reading with our primary and junior students. Some of our classrooms have volunteers that support students within the classroom setting. We are always open to new ideas to supporting our students in their academic achievement, parents are welcome to share any new ideas with their classroom teacher.
